Dear Parent/Carer (of Year 11 student),
I am writing to inform you of the arrangements about forthcoming events and examination leave for Year 11.
Celebration Evening
As you may be aware, on Wednesday 2nd April, our Year 11 Celebration Evening will take place, where we will celebrate our Year 11 students and their journey in KS3 and KS4. We kindly remind parents and carers to save this date. We will be sending out further information about this event soon.
Year 11 Commencement of Study Leave
On Friday 2nd May 2025, Year 11 will have their final day of lessons in school. Students will be in normal lessons all day and will need to bring all of their equipment for these lessons. From Bank Holiday Monday 5th May, students will be on Study Leave. During the study leave period, subject teachers are still available should your child need any additional support. The official last day celebrations will take place once examinations have ended on Tuesday 24th June.
Lockers and Book Returns
Students will have access to their lockers throughout the examination period. However, we are advising that students clear the majority of their belongings from their lockers by Thursday 1st May, leaving only the resources required for Friday 2nd May.
For full locker clear out, removal of padlocks and disposal of unwanted items, the dates are: 11 Aphrodite, 11 Artemis and 11 Athene at lunchtime (12.55pm – 1.45pm) on Thursday 19th June; 11 Demeter, 11 Hera and 11 Hestia at lunchtime (12.55pm – 1.45pm) on Friday 20th June; 11 Persephone and any who missed their date at lunchtime (12.15pm – 1.00pm) on Monday 23rd June.
All textbooks and books borrowed from the library should also be returned by Monday 23rd June 2025 to their respective departments or the library.
Exam period – Thursday 8th May - Thursday 26th June 2025
Your child’s exams will fall somewhere between Thursday 8th May and Thursday 26th June- this is the official examination period, including contingency days, all students must be available throughout this period. Students will receive their individual timetable, during the week of 24th March, with an Exam Assembly delivered by our exams officer, Mrs Odlum, who will give the students all the information concerning examinations.
Throughout this period, students are permitted to study on the school site during normal school hours. Students who choose to study on site must be dressed in full school uniform and adhere to the usual school rules and policies. To ensure we have a clear indication of who is on site at all times, students studying on site will need to sign in and out at the student hub.
Year 11 Last Day Celebration will take place on Tuesday 24th June. Further information regarding the timings of the day will follow in due course.
GCSE Results Day – Thursday 21st August 2025.
Students are expected to arrive at school for 9am or provide written permission for someone else to collect them on their behalf if they are unable to attend but wish to collect results.
Reminders and additional information
The period after the Easter Holidays and all days up until and including Friday 2nd May are full school days and students should be prepared for learning, with full equipment.
Please can we remind students that they will need to keep their uniform safely stored away to decorate it as part of the leaver’s tradition at the end of Year 13.
We would be delighted if you could donate outgrown shirts/uniforms to the PTA. A tub will be placed near the hall from the week beginning Monday 5th May, and all items must be bagged.

Sixth Form Key Dates 2025
- Thursday, 8th May 2025: Final day of lessons.
- Friday, 9th May 2025: Leavers' Assembly (8:30 am) and Leavers' Celebration (until 12:30 pm). Students may wear former school uniforms and sign shirts. Students will not be able to return to the school site after 12:30 pm.
- Monday, 12th May 2025 - Wednesday, 25th June 2025: Examination period. Students studying on-site must sign in/out and adhere to school policies. Lockers must be cleared by the end of this period. Personalised exam timetable provided before Easter break.
- Friday, 27th June 2025: Head Girl's Day. Formal invitation to follow.
- Saturday, 28th June 2025: Year 13 Leavers' Ball.
- Thursday, 14th August 2025: A Level Results Day (9:00 am).
Sixth Form Key Dates Letter (A comprehensive breakdown of Sixth Form Key Dates)
Sixth Form Key Dates 2025
As we approach the final months of your child's time at Townley, I want to draw your attention to several key dates that are important to note. Your child's final day of classes will be Thursday 8th May, with the final day of the academic year, being the leavers’ assembly on Friday 9th May.
On the last day, your child is permitted to attend school wearing their former school uniform and sign each others shirts with a message, or memory. We understand that this is a significant day, with celebration and reflection, we maintain the expectation that students conduct themselves appropriately, both on and off-site.
Leavers’ Assembly:
Beginning at 8.30am, students will have a student-led leavers' assembly, followed by a leavers' celebration on the field across the road. Students will be able to enjoy various food vendors and music to celebrate their Sixth Form journey. The on-site period will end at 12.30pm when students will depart. They will not, on this day, be able to return to school site for any reason.
Examination Period:
The examination period is from Monday 12th May to Wednesday 25th June. Your child's exam timetable, will be provided in the two school weeks before the Easter Break, and students will have an Examinations Assembly by Mrs Odlum, our Examinations Manager.
Students choosing to study on-site during this period must sign-in with Mrs Keleher in student hub and adhere to uniform regulations and school policies, with the Sixth Form office offering an open-door policy for discussing exam-related concerns. Students are required to sign out using our Google form to indicate their on-site presence. Lockers must be emptied by the end of the exam period, with the Sixth Form team disposing of any remaining contents.
Head Girl’s Day and Leaver’s Ball:
Head Girl's Day, a formal event acknowledging Year 13 students' achievements, is scheduled for Friday 27th June. Parents are invited, and additional details, along with a formal invitation, will be shared in due course.
The Year 13 Leavers' Ball, hosting over 200 students, is set for Saturday 28th June.
A Level Results Day:
A Level Results Day is scheduled for Thursday 14th August, with students expected to be present at school at 9am or provide written authorisation for result collection by a designated representative. A Level certificates from various exam boards will arrive in the autumn term, and collection details will be communicated. Students wishing to visit the school post-exam period must sign in at reception and arrange a pre-booked appointment with a staff member.

Public examination for Year 11 and 13 are in the period 8th May to 24th June 2025 - please note that the final timetable is still to be confirmed so might change.
End of year exams for Years 7, 8 and 9 in the core subjects will take place in the period 1st, 2nd and 6th May 2025.
