Weekly Parent and Carer Comms
Friday 9th October 2026
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Early finish on Thursday 15th October
Please be aware that school will finish early on Thursday next week and students will be dismissed at the end of period 5, at 2.35pm. This is due to the large number of students that are taking part in the Sixth Form Open Evening which takes place after school.
We can confirm that the bus companies have been notified and the 602 buses will leave at 2.45pm and 2.50pm, and Abbey travel at 2.50pm.
Water bottles
We have recently seen an increase in students needing first aid for dehydration-related symptoms. Even mild dehydration can affect concentration, cause headaches, and hinder learning.
Please ensure your child brings a refillable water bottle to school each day.
Water fountains are available around the school, and students are encouraged to refill regularly. Thank you for your support in helping us keep students healthy, comfortable, and ready to learn.
Reporting and assessment at Townley Grammar
Information relation to reporting and assessment can be found on our website using the link here:- https://www.townleygrammar.org.uk/teaching-learning/reporting-information/
This year we have introduced a new reporting system for Key Stage 3 - a parent guide relating to this can be found in the specific Key Stage 3 section.
What is Non-Violent Resistance (NVR)?
We are pleased to invite parents and carers to an upcoming support opportunity provided in partnership with the Bexley MHST & Bromley CAMHS, Bexley CAMHS, Greenwich CAMHS.
NVR is a structured approach designed to provide practical tools and techniques for parents and carers of children and young people displaying challenging attitudes or behaviours. Guided through core NVR principles, parents learn to respond to difficult situations using carefully planned actions rather than reactive conflicts. As parents gain greater confidence and self-control, they can address challenging issues more effectively by building parental presence. As this presence grows, it helps deactivate conflict and rebuild a positive, loving parent-child relationship.

Halloween in the community
While many families enjoy taking part in trick-or-treating, we understand that not everyone feels comfortable answering their door, particularly as the evenings become darker.
To help make your preference clear, The Met Police have ‘No Trick or Treat’ Halloween posters available for residents to display on their front doors. These signs can help indicate that you would prefer to not be disturbed. They will be distributing these posters at their weekly contact sessions at Bexley Library. Alternatively, they are attached to this email and can be printed at home for your convenience.
Thank you for helping us make Halloween enjoyable and respectful for everyone in our community.
Kind regards,
Miss S Totty
Headteacher
