Weekly Parent & Carers Communication
Friday 8th May 2026
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
To our wonderful Year 13s
Today marks the end of an era and we hope you take a moment to soak it all in.
It was fantastic to see you all coming together today. We hope you thoroughly enjoyed your final assembly and that the round of applause from the staff and younger years gave you a sense of just how much you have achieved during your time here. Ending the day with celebrations on the field was the perfect way to cap off your journey - seeing you all together, sharing laughs and memories, is exactly how we will remember this year group.
The hard graft is almost here, but you are ready. We want to wish you the very best of luck with your upcoming examinations. You have put in the hours, and now is the time to stay calm, stay focused, and show what you are capable of.
While today is a goodbye of sorts, it is not the final farewell. We are already looking forward to welcoming you back for Head Girl’s Day on 26th June. It will be a brilliant opportunity to reunite, and celebrate your journey at Townley.
As you move into this next chapter, remember that your grades will open doors, but your character will take you through them.
"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
Stay curious, stay resilient, and keep aiming high. You’ve got this! Good luck, Year 13!
Parent/Carer Survey 2026
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Parent/Carer Survey 2026. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us in order to ensure we are offering the best possible educational provision at Townley. Hearing your perspectives allows us to celebrate what we are doing well and provides a clear roadmap for where we can review and improve our practices to better serve our students.
We are delighted to share that the survey results reflect a high level of overall satisfaction with the school and the overall average for student happiness was overwhelmingly positive.
Please find below some additional summarised positive headlines and data:
- Parents are overwhelmingly positive about their child’s happiness, safety and sense of belonging
- There is strong confidence in the school’s ability to foster respectful behaviour and value student identity
- Many parents expressed strong confidence in how the school prepares children for their future
- 93.3% of parents/ carers would recommend Townley Grammar School to others
While we are pleased with these successes, your comments have also highlighted specific areas which we are currently reviewing as a direct result of your feedback:
- We are looking at ways to ensure parents—particularly those with children in the younger year groups—feel more informed about what their child is learning within the curriculum throughout the year.
- We are reviewing our reporting system to ensure the information shared with parents/ carers is written with clarity and allows for a good understanding of progress in each subject, particularly for year 7 parents/ carers.
- We are evaluating how we communicate the broad range of enrichment opportunities available for students for students in Key Stage 4.
- We aim to provide more targeted support and information regarding online safety for families in the next academic year
Though the survey was testament to the strong pastoral support offered at Townley, we want to ensure all parents/ carers know who they can reach out to for different queries so we will ensure communication with key staff member’s contact details is shared with you. In addition, we will ensure we continue offering robust pastoral support to students during the examination periods to ensure that student wellbeing is prioritised at high pressure points in the year.
We intend to conduct another survey next year; we do hope even more parents/ carers will engage with us then so that we can continue to capture the voices of our entire school community. Thank you again for your ongoing support and thank you for taking the time to share your views with us through the survey.
Mental Health Awareness Week – 11th to 17th May 2026
The Townley community is invited to join us for ‘Wear It Green Day’ on Thursday 14th May, held during Mental Health Awareness Week. We are asking all students and staff to wear a green accessory to show their support and help us "turn the world green" for good mental health.
By going green, you are supporting the Mental Health Foundation in carrying out vital research and delivering life-changing programmes for communities across the country. There are a range of activities for students and staff to participate in throughout the week, including the Action for Happiness "Meaningful May" challenge. At home, you can join in by signing up for their monthly calendars here.
House Tutors will provide further information along with activities from Wellbeing Ambassadors and Kindness Reps. Year Group Hubs on Google Classroom will be updated with reminders for students.
Thank you for your continued support in prioritising wellbeing within our school community.
Kind regards,
Miss S Totty
Headteacher
