Book Drive for Koforidua Babiani School, Ghana
We are reaching out to the school community to request donations of second-hand books to support Koforidua Babiani School in Brong Ahafo, Ghana.
Currently, Koforidua Babiani School faces a significant challenge: a large number of children reach secondary school age without being able to read. This literacy gap impacts their progress in every subject. While the school has a dedicated library room, the shelves are completely empty, leaving the children with no reading material whatsoever. Without books, teachers must teach the entire class from the blackboard. This makes it difficult to support children at different learning stages, leading many to fall behind quickly.
To support the local community establish 1-1 reading sessions, we would like to help them source a wide range of reading material. Therefore, if you have access to any second hand books that you no longer need, please could you bring them in to school next week. Please note:
- Koforidua Babiani School caters for children from nursery age up to 16 years old so please also bring in any reading material suitable for very young children if you can.
- We would welcome fiction and non-fiction
- Do not worry if books are slightly damaged; minor tears can be repaired.
Whether you can spare a single book or a whole collection, your donation will provide these students with the tools they need to develop a routine of reading and improve their literacy across the board.
Thank you in advance for your support in such a worthwhile cause.
