Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Introducing our new Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Dixon
I have really enjoyed spending my first month as a part of the Townley community, getting to know students, staff and parents and experiencing what it genuinely means to be part of the school. I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself, I am the new Deputy Head and Head of 6th Form, a position that I feel incredibly privileged to hold. Over the last 17 years as an educator and school leader, my passion has always been championing young people, empowering them to enter the world as confident, values-driven individuals Having responsibility for the final stage of a student's 'Townley Journey', I see it as my role to give our students every opportunity to learn and succeed academically, grow as young leaders and confidently step into their next stage, fulfilling their aspirations.

I look forward to meeting many of you over the coming year and working in partnership with you as we encourage our students to dream big and realise their potential.

Year 11 Expectations Evening 2026
Thank you to all those who have already reserved their place for our Year 11 Expectations Evening on Thursday 1st October; for those who have not yet registered, please could you refer to the attached letter and sign up before Monday. This pivotal year is a critical milestone in your child’s education as they prepare for their GCSEs, and attending events like this is essential to building a strong, supportive partnership between home and school. The evening promises to be incredibly informative, offering valuable guidance on effective revision strategies and academic support, as well as the opportunity to speak directly with senior staff, Learning Managers, and your child’s tutor.

Enrichment
We are pleased to offer a wide range of extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities and hope that your child will find something that they are keen to be involved in. In order to ensure that consent is recorded specifically in relation to Sports/House Fixtures and Afterschool clubs, we will require parents/ carers to consent to ‘Sports Fixtures and After School Clubs Consent’ through Arbor.

To consent, please log onto the Arbor parent portal login.arbor.sc, on the left hand side under notices you can consent. Details of individual fixtures, clubs and events will be shared using Arbor (where parents/carers will be able to access details). We hope students enjoy the extra-curricular activities and thank you for your support; we look forward to a successful and enriched year.

Bexley community safety partnership - Anti-slavery Day Community Conference
Join Bexley Community Safety Partnership for their Anti-Slavery Day Community Conference, bringing together residents, professionals, parents, carers and young people to raise awareness of modern slavery, exploitation and the support available to those affected: Monday 19th October 2026, 10am to 1pm (arrival and registration from 9.30am), at The Salvation Army Bexleyheath, Lions Road, DA6 8NR.

Guests are invited to arrive from 9:30am, where complimentary refreshments including tea, coffee and biscuits will be available. Throughout the event, a range of local organisations and support services will host information stalls, providing an opportunity for attendees to learn more about available services and speak directly with professionals. The event is open to professionals, residents, parents, carers and young people aged 12+ (reflecting the age guidance for the theatre performance).

The conference programme will include:

• Sosa Henkoma, sharing his powerful lived experience story.
• A performance by Theatre for Schools, exploring themes of grooming, county lines and child criminal exploitation.
• A presentation from The Salvation Army on their work supporting survivors of modern slavery and exploitation.
