Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

NHS advice on Meningitis
Bexley have provided information for parents and carers on how to avoid catching meningitis. While it is difficult to avoid, there are some steps you can take to help prevent spreading meningitis – please see the attachment with helpful NHS advice.

Parent/ Carer Survey
We understand that there were some initial issues with the parent/ carer survey sent out last week; this should have now been rectified. A very small number of parents/ carers had still not received their survey email the other day but left their email addresses with admin@townleygrammar.org.uk or reception- we have since let the company know so hopefully all parents have received this now.

Please let us know if you are still experiencing any problems as we are really hoping to hear the views of as many parents/ carers as possible. In some cases the email ( from Welbee ) has been found in Junk folders or has been blocked by the recipient so please do check your folders and settings. We will re-send the survey again before it closes next Thursday.

Please note, the immunisation team do not accept emails as consent, a completed form is always needed.

Book Drive for Koforidua Babiani School, Ghana

Book Drive for Koforidua Babiani School, Ghana
We are reaching out to the school community to request donations of second-hand books to support Koforidua Babiani School in Brong Ahafo, Ghana.

Currently, Koforidua Babiani School faces a significant challenge: a large number of children reach secondary school age without being able to read. This literacy gap impacts their progress in every subject. While the school has a dedicated library room, the shelves are completely empty, leaving the children with no reading material whatsoever. Without books, teachers must teach the entire class from the blackboard. This makes it difficult to support children at different learning stages, leading many to fall behind quickly.

To support the local community establish 1-1 reading sessions, we would like to help them source a wide range of reading material. Therefore, if you have access to any second hand books that you no longer need, please could you ask your child to bring them in to school next week. Please note:

  • Koforidua Babiani School caters for children from nursery age up to 16 years old so please also bring in any reading material suitable for very young children if you can.
  • We would welcome fiction and non-fiction
  • Do not worry if books are slightly damaged; minor tears can be repaired.

Whether you can spare a single book or a whole collection, your donation will provide these students with the tools they need to develop a routine of reading and improve their literacy across the board. Thank you in advance for your support in such a worthwhile cause.

Kind regards,

Miss S Totty
