New Ambit Courses!


January to March, 10 week courses


 We are delighted to showcase the AMBIT extracurricular  activities. Working with external providers, clubs will take place  at Townley on Monday afternoons from 2:45pm to 3:45pm.

Software Development for complete beginners £105.00

  • **If you took part in the previous edition between September and December this course will still be suitable for you as you will be treated to new and more difficult exercises to keep you challenged**
  • 10- week course, every Monday starting Monday 12th January to Monday 23rd March, from 14:35 to 16:15pm in Room C3.
  • This course is available to students of all ages who are interested in learning the basics of Software Development.

Curriculum

  • Would you like to be able to write programs? Get computers to do what you want them to do? Would you like to understand how web pages, phone apps and more are built?
  • This course will be your introduction from zero to these topics:
  • Weeks 1 & 2: Introduction to Software Development via spreadsheets: variables, references, functions.
  • Weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7: Introduction to C# and Visual Studio: Basic programming principles and constructs (conditionals, loops, variables, scopes) Types by reference and by value. Building a simple Console app with basic input and output. Building a command line calculator.
  • Weeks 7, 8: Web pages Building our first static web page with HTML and CSS
  • Weeks 9, 10, 11, 12: build a simple Blazor app. If there's time, we'll learn how to deploy it and make it available on the internet.

Spanish £63.00 

10- week course, every Monday starting Monday 12th January to Monday 23rd March, from 14:45 to 15:45 in Room 1A. This club is aimed at all students of all ages who would like to improve their conversational skills in Spanish. This will be a conversational Spanish class focusing on practical communication skills, covering: 

  • Greetings & Basics – Introductions, common phrases and politeness.
  • Everyday Conversations – Asking/answering questions, talking about hobbies, ordering food. • Travel & Directions – Asking for directions, transportation, hotels. 
  • Shopping & Transactions – Buying items, asking about prices, negotiating. 
  • Describing People & Places – Talking about family, friends, and locations.
  • Past & Future Conversations – Discussing experiences, plans, and invitations.
  • Cultural Insights – Common idioms, slang, and regional difference. 

To secure a place on one of the courses for your child please complete This form by 5th December midnight. 

Once the deadline has passed, we will allocate a course to all students and on Friday 12th December, you will receive an email of confirmation of your child’s place on a course along with instructions on how to make payment. 

The payment deadline will be Monday 5th January
