A Fond Farewell to a Fantastic Year!
As the academic year draws to a close, I am delighted to reflect on what has been a truly fantastic summer term at Townley. It's been a period brimming with activity, achievements, and memorable moments that highlight the incredible spirit of our school community.
Our exam season was, as always, a busy time, and I want to extend a huge well done to all our Year 11 and Year 13 students who approached their examinations with such dedication and resilience. We are incredibly proud of your efforts and look forward to celebrating your successes on results day.
A particular highlight this term was our Head Girls' Day, which was a highly successful and truly enchanting event. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the theme of Wicked, and it was wonderful to see our Year 13 students embracing the magic as they prepare to embark on their exciting new journeys. It truly was a fitting and wonderful celebration of their time at Townley and all their accomplishments.
We were thrilled to host our Year 7 and Year 12 Induction Evenings, welcoming our new students and helping them prepare for life at Townley. We also had a very successful Open Evening for prospective Year 7 students, and it was a pleasure to showcase our vibrant school to future members of our community.
This term brought two truly spectacular highlights that showcased the exceptional talent and spirit of Townley. Our Sports Day was an incredible display of athleticism and teamwork, with 4 school records broken, 104 medals handed out, and 312 certificates awarded. What truly stood out, however, was the incredible whole-school community that came together to cheer on our students, demonstrating fantastic Townley and House spirit.
And who could forget Frozen, our school production! It truly was West End quality in the Townley Theatre, and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. The amazing talent of our students, coupled with the hard work and dedication of our staff, made it an unforgettable success.
The final week has been a wonderful end to the term with our Cultural Day sharing and celebrating the diversity that exists within our school community - this was concluded with our Summer Soiree, further celebrating musical diversity. Today we have ended our Term with our Annual House Cup celebration and I am delighted to announce that Athene are our House Cup winners this year. Well done Athene - a fantastic achievement!
As we look towards the summer break, we will also be saying a heartfelt goodbye to some key members of our staff who are moving on to new adventures. We extend our sincere gratitude for their contributions to Townley:
Sawen Ali, Jessie Hurt and Sofia Steadman who joined us in January to support in Mathematics, German, Latin and te Teaching and Learning team.
- Emily Cary - French Teacher.
- Jyoti McCabe - Computer Science Teacher.
- Martin Begley Economics Teacher.
- Karima Bounihi Spanish Teacher.
- Kendal Barrett Chemistry Teacher.
- Yanina Kucherenko Mathematics Teacher.
Their dedication and hard work have enriched our school community, and we wish them all the very best for the future.
Finally, I want to express my deepest gratitude to all parents and carers for your unwavering support throughout the year. Your partnership is invaluable to our success. To our incredible staff, thank you for your dedication, hard work, and commitment to making Townley a truly wonderful school. Your passion for education and your tireless efforts create an environment where our students can thrive.
I wish you all a very restful and rejuvenating summer. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September, refreshed and ready for another exciting academic year.
Warmest regards,
Sarina Totty - Acting Headteacher
