Computer Science is taught as an explicit subject from Year 7 and is offered at both GCSE and Advanced Level.

 In key stage 3 all students have 1 lesson a week of computer studies. It is very popular subject at both GCSE and A level. We ae very proud that Townley Grammar our students go against many of the national trends in relation to females studying Computer science – at present we have over 80 students in both the current year 10 and 11 studying computer science along with 30 in year 13 and 38 in year 12. It is vibrant department which offers a wide range of opportunities for students including visits to Bletchley Park and to Silicon Valley. The students are encouraged to participate in competitions. Through the introduction of new Key stage 4 curriculum there will also be the opportunity for students to select subjects which may include code and create, Digital futures, Esports, STEM Crest award.

We are looking for a forward thinking, inspirational practitioner to work collaboratively with colleagues, deliver outstanding lessons and to support in the development of the curriculum, raising academic achievement and ensuring all students make outstanding progress. 

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, ambitious and inspirational teacher of Computer science The successful candidate will have expert subject knowledge and must be able to teach all Key Stages, including GCSE and A Level. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual who is suitably motivated and ready to share their expertise and experience with our brilliant young people

Professional Development

We provide a full and robust induction programme for all new members of staff, as part of the school’s Staff Development Programme, with further support for staff new to the teaching profession. To assist the Premises Manager in the conduct of their duties in connection with security, cleanliness, maintenance, lettings and other aspects of the management of the school site. To undertake duties in the absence of the Premises Manager.
