Parents/Carers & Students Weekly Communication

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Adverse Weather Procedures
With the weather gradually changing and becoming colder, we want to ensure the safety of our students and staff during adverse weather conditions. In the event of adverse weather, please be advised to refer to our school's website for timely updates on the status of the school and whether we are open or closed. We understand the importance of keeping you informed about any changes that may affect school hours or activities due to weather-related circumstances and will ensure our website is updated by 7.00am at the latest. Our website will provide the most up-to-date information regarding closures or altered schedules to help you plan accordingly.

Save the Date – Forthcoming Christmas concerts:
Wednesday 6th December at 1pm – Lunchtime concert with students from Year 10 and Year 12, at Christ Church, Broadway, Bexleyheath.

Thursday 14th December at 7pm – Christmas Carol Service (lessons and carols) with two Townley Grammar choirs, at Christ Church, Broadway, Bexleyheath.

Christmas Jumper Day
On Thursday 7th December, we are partnering with Save the Children for our Christmas Jumper Day. As is Townley tradition with festive jumpers, we should be socially conscious and this does not have to be fast fashion. If you do not own a festive jumper, and wish to participate, please feel free to festively decorate a jumper of your own. Christmas Jumper Day is a day to raise money for charity, and the £1 that each student donates will go towards Save the Children who have a Gaza appeal for donations at the moment.

Christmas Jumpers are the only alteration to uniform on Thursday 7th December. Students should wear full Townley uniform with their Festive Jumper.

In the days running up to Christmas Jumper Day, we will be running a tutor group competition to decorate festive jumpers in tutor time. These will be submitted and judged with House Points awarded to the most creative decorations!

Cultural Days
Our Cultural Days are an opportunity for our school to celebrate and share the diversity that exists within our community. Students will have the opportunity to wear clothing that represents and reflects their culture. It is a fantastic opportunity to share more about who we are.

As part of the day, we will have a cultural celebration event at lunchtime where students can sign up to showcase their cultural dress.  We are all looking forward to celebrating Cultural Days on the following dates:

KS3 - Years 7 - 9: Thursday 11th January

KS4 - Years 10 & 11: Friday 12th January

KS5 - Years 12 & 13: Wed 24th January

We have three dates to ensure that as many students as possible can attend the lunchtime event.

Anti-Bullying Week
The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors sold bracelets for Anti-Bullying week and raised £78.  We will be using the money to fund activities throughout the year linked with Anti-Bullying.

Book Fair
A Book Fair will be coming into school from 1st - 6th December. Books and stationery will be available for students to purchase. Online payments are now open for parents to pre-pay for items wanted from the fair: https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/pay/1262141

Students can pay online to Scholastic, by card or cash at the fair, which will be held at lunchtimes in the piazza. Please see the information attached.

Finally, I leave you with the Townley Bulletin to read, engage with and enjoy.

Kind regards,

Miss S Totty

Senior Deputy Headteacher
