Dear Parents/Guardians
Two meetings have been arranged for you and your daughters to provide information about admission to the sixth form at this school.
On Thursday 8th November at 7pm there is an opportunity for you to attend a meeting, which is just for the parents and pupils already at the school. There will be presentations by Dr Stirrup and members of the sixth form about the admission criteria, life in the sixth form and how to apply for a place. The meeting will last for one and a half hours and senior members of staff will also be there to answer any queries.
The second meeting on Monday 12th November from 3.45pm – 6pm will enable your daughter to visit different subject areas to find out more about particular courses. Subject teachers and sixth formers will be in teaching rooms ready to give information or to answer any questions. This meeting is primarily aimed at the students themselves, although you may of course attend if you wish. It is also open to external candidates.
Your daughter will be given an introduction information booklet about entry to the sixth form by Dr Stirrup during PD on Tuesday 6th November.
We have advertised the meeting on the 12th November in the local paper but note that the times given are for external applicants and not for your daughter.
I hope most of our Year 11 will stay with us at Townley to follow Advanced Level courses. However, for those who feel uncertain about which academic course they should be taking or whether a vocational route might be more appropriate then further advice is available from Miss Greenwood, who has responsibility for careers and guidance and the Connexions adviser who visits the school.
I look forward to seeing you.
Yours sincerely
Mrs L Hutchinson
