Oliver - our school production in July 2011

Oliver! 6-9 July 2011.
Little did we know when we held auditions in April that we would find such a wealth of talent in the lower school!
Our cast of 90 worked tirelessly for three months in rehearsal for what was a truly fantastic show. We were so proud to receive a standing ovation on opening night, and for all consecutive nights!

Indiahh Cross’ portrayal of Fagin was truly spellbinding, and her ability to capture the audience was outstanding. Nancy, played by Rebecca Seagroatt, what can I say? What an amazing voice! A future star in the making, who reduced Mrs Brittle and I to tears in her first audition. Many congratulations to our Olivers – Katherine Farrell and Tory Massey, and our Dodgers – Amy Spencer and Emma Sullivan. These four exceptional young ladies really motivated the rest of the cast, and led the way in all rehearsals. Their lines were learnt, they were totally dependable and their performances were beautifully believable and engaging. Finally, Bill Sykes, ably portrayed by Sydney Simmons, who really put fear into the hearts of the audience.....and Mr Deehan!
Thanks must go to the hard work of our fabulous Arts team – Miss Jones, Mr Dunn and Mr Ting, ably led by Mr Suranyi, for their support and enthusiasm in music rehearsals. The singing and band were of an outstanding quality, and this is thanks to their dedication and expertise. Mrs Brittle and Mrs Owen, for their inspirational choreography and motivation throughout the rehearsal process and production week.
Their attention to detail really brought the production up to the professional level we continue to aspire to at Townley. Miss Palmer, Lizzy Boxall, Miss Clarke and Mr Longman for their production support in set, staging, lighting, sound, props and costumes – particularly Miss Palmer’s fantastic “washing line” inspired design idea that worked so beautifully to portray London in the 1890s.
To everyone involved, a huge well done! I am so very proud of you all.

Oliver! Townley’s Junior Production 2011
We enjoyed the Oliver! experience so much – the last few months really have been the best of our lives so far! We loved rehearsing, developing our roles, making many new friends (there were 90 of us in the cast!), and making so much progress in our singing, acting and dancing.
Trying on our costumes for the first time was so exciting, and by the time we came to the last performance, the thought of hanging them up for ever was so emotional. We really didn’t want it to end.
We are so proud of the final product – we loved the rush of going on stage each night, especially to such appreciative audiences!
Thanks to everyone involved....we’ll never forget this experience.
